At the age of 18, Matt embarked on his amateur boxing journey, achieving victory in 13 out of 15 bouts. Transitioning to the professional realm in 2001, he showcased his skills as a Heavyweight, securing triumphs in 7 out of 10 fights. Notably, he faced off against World Champions James Toney and Anthony Joshua.
